Craps Rules and Regulations

Play Online Craps | Casino Lobby

Craps has been a popular casino game since the era of the Roman gladiators. Players bet on whether the shooter will or will not be able to roll a winning combination with a pair of six-sided dice. You'll be hard-pressed to find a game with more excitement and fun than Craps.

Some wagers must be placed before the point is established, while other wagers can be placed at any time.

To play Craps:

  1. Select a chip value.
  2. Click an area or areas of the betting table until the number of chips displayed equals the amount you wish to bet.
  3. Optionally, click Clear All to remove all your chips from the betting table.

    Or

    To remove a single chip:

    1. Click Remove.
    2. Click the chip or chips you want removed from the betting table.
    3. Click Remove: On.
You can now add chips to the betting table.
  4. Click Roll.
The dice are rolled and the outcome appears in a box at the top of the screen. This is the come-out roll. Depending on your roll, single roll bets may be paid out, the point may be set to On, and you may be allowed to place new bets and roll again.

Depending on your bet or bets and the outcome of the roll of the dice, you may be allowed to roll multiple times until you either win or throw craps.

When the point is On and there are no bets on the table, you may click End Round to immediately end the round. When you use this feature, the next cast of the dice is treated as a come-out roll.

back to the topRules

The player rolls two dice and the total of the two dice is added together. Winnings are determined by what you bet and what you roll. You can place various bets before the first roll of the dice and, depending on the results of the first roll, on subsequent rolls until a winner is declared.

Pass Line Bets

You may place a bet on the Pass Line and bet that you will roll the point again before you roll a 7 and crap out. The Pass Line bet is one of the most common bets in Craps.

You place a bet on the Pass Line and roll a 4. The point is 4. Your bet is that you will roll a 4 again before you roll a 7 and crap out.

The pass line bet resolves when you roll a 4 (the point), and win, but the round does not end. The round ends when you roll a 7.

Pass Line Bets

You may place a bet on the Don’t Pass Line and bet that you will roll a 7 (craps) before you roll the point again. The Don't Pass Line bet is one of the most common bets in Craps.

You Place a bet on the Don’t Pass Line and roll a 4. The point is 4. Your bet is that you will roll a 7 (craps) before rolling a 4 (the point) again.

The pass line bet resolves when you roll a 4 (the point), and lose, but the round does not end. The round ends when you roll a 7.

Come-Out Roll

The first roll is called the come-out roll. When rolling the come-out roll, the shooter is trying to establish a point by rolling one of the following numbers: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. If one of those numbers is rolled, that number becomes the point.

If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the come-out roll, the Pass Line bet is paid off at even money and the Don't Pass bet is lost. If the shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12 then the Pass Line bet is lost. The Don’t Pass bet wins if a 2 or 3 is rolled and is a push if a 12 is rolled.

If the shooter rolls a point number on the come-out roll, the shooter rolls until the point number is rolled again or a 7 is rolled.

Craps Bets

The Pass and Don’t Pass bets are common bets. However, there are many other bets that can be made.

The following bets can be made in Craps:

Bet type Definition
Pass A bet that the shooter will throw a 7 or 11 on the come-out roll or, alternatively, that the shooter will roll the point again before rolling a 7. You cannot remove a Pass bet after the point has been made.
Don't Pass This is the opposite of the Pass bet. This bet is placed against the shooter and wins if craps (2 or 3) is thrown on the come-out roll or if the shooter fails to make the point. If a 12 is thrown, the bet is a push. You cannot remove a Don't Pass bet after the point has been made.
Come This bet is similar to the Pass bet, but does not have to be made on the come-out roll. When you place a Come bet, the next number rolled is treated as your come point.
Don't Come This bet is similar to the Don’t Pass bet, but can be made after a point has been made. You cannot remove the Don’t Come bet after it has been made.
Odds This is an additional bet made on a Pass, Don’t Pass, Come or Don’t Come bet that has already been placed. Odds bets can only be made when one of the four bets mentioned is active and once the point has been established. Odds bets are paid out at the true odds: 2:1 on a roll of 4 or 10, 3:2 on a roll of 5 or 9, and 6:5 on a roll of 6 or 8. Odds bets can be removed or reduced at any time.
Buy

This bet can be made on the following numbers: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. It is a bet that the relevant number will be thrown before a 7. Buy bets can be made, altered, or removed at any time.

Lay This bet can be made on the following numbers: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. It is a bet that a 7 will be thrown before the relevant number. Lay bets can be made, altered, or removed at any time.
Field This is a bet on the outcome of the next throw. It pays even money if a 3,4,9,10 or 11 is thrown and 2:1 if Snake Eyes or Boxcars are thrown.
Hard Way

This bet can be made on 4, 6, 8 or 10. It is a bet that the relevant number will be thrown in its double form (for instance, a hard 8 occurs when two 4s are thrown) before a 7 and before that number is thrown in any other combination.

Propositions A number of betting options that include any craps, any 7 and either 2, 12, 3 or 11 being thrown on the next roll
Big 6 This bet is an even money bet that 6 will be rolled before 7.
Big 8 This bet is an even money bet that 8 will be rolled before 7.
