Baccarat Rules and Regulations

Play Baccarat | Casino Lobby

Baccarat is a sophisticated European card game. The goal is to draw a hand with a card total of nine. You can bet on either the player or banker being dealt a hand closer to nine. Or, you can bet on a tie between the two. You can also bet a combination of player win and a tie or banker win and a tie.

The player and the banker are each dealt two cards. Depending on the total of the two cards, a third card may be automatically dealt. The winning hand is the one with a card total closest to nine. If a tie occurs and you placed a Tie bet, you win.

Baccarat uses a four deck shoe that is reshuffled after every hand.

The goal is to build a hand that is as close to nine as possible. The player and the banker are each dealt two cards. Depending on the card totals for these two cards, a winner is determined or a third card is dealt.

No hand receives more than three cards. A third card is dealt based on the Third Card Rule. All cards at dealt automatically by the casino.

Tens and face cards are worth zero, aces are worth one. All other cards are worth their face value. If the total for a hand exceeds nine, the hand value is determined by subtracting 10 from the hand total. For example:

Hand Total Subtract 10 Hand Value
+ = 15 - 10
5
+ + = 18 - 10
8
+ = 19 - 10
Natural 9
+ = 18 - 10
Natural 8

You may bet on the banker winning, the player winning, or a tie between the banker and the player. You may also bet a combination of the banker and a Tie or the player and a Tie. You cannot place a banker and player combination bet.

Third Card Rule

After the first two cards are dealt, a third card may be dealt, subject to the Third Card Rule. The player’s hand is always played first followed by the banker’s hand. The play of the banker’s hand is determined by the card total of the player’s hand.

The following table illustrates Baccarat game play and the Third Card Rule.

Table A – The first two cards are dealt
If the player's two card total equals: The Player:
0 – 5 Is dealt a third card
6 – 7 Stands
8 – 9 Stands (Natural)

After the outcome of the player’s hand has been determined, the banker’s hand is completed:

If the player’s hand value is six or seven and a third card was not dealt, see Table B.

If the player’s hand value is not six or seven and a third card was dealt, see Table C.

Table B – player’s hand value is six or seven and a third card was not dealt
If the banker’s two card total equals: The banker:
3 – 5 Is dealt a third card
6 – 9 Stands

Table C – Player’s hand value is not six or seven and a third card was dealt
If the banker’s two card total equals: The banker is dealt a third card if the player’s third card is: The banker stands if the player’s third card is:
